Waiting for the future

The future is the period of time beyond the past and the present. It is usually considered the most uncertain of all three time segments. To some it holds hope, to others it holds despair, to all it is something to be waited for.

To some it is that time in the distant or not too distant,  where all their problems go away, their dreams come true and the pain of their past evaporates. To some it is that time when the ticking time bomb of their past misdeeds, the harvest of the wild oats sown, and the repercussions of ills earlier incurred unleashes ‘hell’ on their heads.  Generalizations aside, what is the future to you? Is it subject to the laws of cause and effect or is it a distant, unpredictable rogue that has a mind of its own…having no regard for your inputs or preparations? If you believe the future is made, what are your tools for shaping it- imagination or objective planning and execution? Is your attitude towards it : ‘Que cera cera- what wil be wil be’ and ‘Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die’? Do you anticipate it or are you anxious for it? Time is the flow of events…where an entity will be in relation to its environment beyond the present is what constitutes its future. The flow of time towards the future, like any other flowing substance is both deterministic and probabilistic- something to be expected and accepted for what we hope it wil be and what it turns out not to be. Some people view the future as a time when everything they need gets to them, even without preparing for it or  without working for it.  I’m amazed at the way some folks handle the future (their future),  like a child in Elementary School. The present builds the future (always remind yourself).

This is how to optimize the future! Holding on to who you are while also adapting readily to the peculiarities and demands of time’s intrigues…  Those who stands to gain the most from the future are those that are willing to laugh and cry; stand firm and dance hard; stand tall and stoop low; take risks and be careful; be grave and gracious; grow old and stay young.

In short, the future is up to God as much as it is up to us, it is all a matter of choice. I leave you with this thought: you can’t expect someone other than yourself to make you what you already are and not be fraustrated. Don’t wait till you are pushed!!!
