Giving and Given
Generally, the idea behind giving is static and only revolves around the highs and well to do in the society. Most people have this weird belief that those living on the ‘average’ level of life, should be at the mercy of those that are above average. Thomas Jefferson postulates “A government big enough to give you everything you want, to take everything you have”. This invariably makes me believe that anyone rich enough to give you EVERYTHING is capable of taking ALL from you. It’s understandable that not everyone is capable of getting what they need on their own but however, the mind set of always considering this as the responsibility of the well to do is what needs to be changed. Aside having a responsibility to yourself, you have a responsibility to people around regardless of what you own. Don’t keep pointing at those that you think should be responsible for your wellbeing and at those you can be of help to in your little way.
I know a few people who live below average but they are cheerful givers and see nothing wrong in giving, they believe that since they have got something, they have to give others, even if it’s beyond what you already have. Their major belief is that; it’s human and gracious to give to people when you can, even if it’s from a little piece. These set of people are rare to find in today’s society.
Most times, you tend to find people that make over a hundred thousand at the end of the month complaining when asked to give. At the same time, you will find people that earn extremely less amount give cheerfully. The basic truth is ‘Your mind set tells if you have a rich or poor heart’
Another thing you should never forget is that at the end of the day, no one will remember most things you have ever said but they will always remember how you made them feel at every point in life.
